2010 continuing with enthusiasm

It’s great to see such good attendances on Saturdays, and even the midweek paint-outs are becoming more popular.

We had an enthusiastic critique of our paintings. Everybody involved found it helpful, encouraging and informative. Another member put a lot of preparation into her demonstration/workshop using Chinese brushwork, with the result that members were thrilled to see the results of their handiwork. Progressive painting was well attended with the outcome of unexpected results of different people tackling paintings started by each of us.  There were budding ‘Masters’ amongst as we copied the well known painters on one Saturday – this activity helping us to look carefully at way the ‘Masters’ did there work i.e. colours, tones, brushstrokes etc.

Ron Reynolds’ demonstration was as usual great with his loose style, and encouraged us to look beyond the ‘real’ image and create works that cause the eye and brain to see something different and interpret what the artist is trying to express.

As well as the demonstrations, portrait painting, life and costume drawing are also  popular.
